WORKSHOP ON ORGANIC CULTIVATION OF VEGETABLES AND MUSHROOM CONDUCTED
PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans conducted a training session to impart technical skills on organic cultivation of vegetables and mushrooms in a bid to promote farm business at Dhulapi, Corlim recently.
During the two hour training session the participants were taught how to grow a diversity of vegetables for their home or business under the initiative of ‘Amche Xetkaar’ and ‘Stree Kranti’.
A total of 30 locals attended this training session that explained how to identify sustainable agriculture practices. Under the Amche Xetkar initiative, the session was carried out by RG members Gauresh Gaude and Nitesh Borkar. They taught the gathering on how to create a crop plan, manage soil nutrients, manage weeds, identify pests and strategies to tackle this menace which destroys the crop.
The Cumbharjua Co-ordinator and Stree Kranti incharge, Sunayna Kerkar highlighted that the workshop received a good response and was very knowledgeable for the women.
“We can empower our women by giving them the necessary skill development and support they need to become independent and self-sustained. This was the first farmers meeting in our constituency and it will be held across all the 40 constituencies on a regular basis,” she said.
While the skill development part was handled by RG members Licio Roncon and Sanket Naik who explained how to prepare crops for the market and comply with food safety regulations. They also stressed on the factor of how to connect with agencies that provide services for new farmers.
