GOACAN to observe vigilance awareness week from 26 th to 1st November

GOACAN will observe Vigilance Awareness Week with the theme “I Care” from 26th October to 1st November. The Awareness Week will highlight the need for consumers to be vigilant against the malpractices being carried out by Government & Commercial agencies which is causing a financial loss to the consumer.

GOACAN volunteers during this week will examine complaints about deficiency in service due to lack of supervision by officials in matters concerning Electricity, Bus Transport, Food Safety, Packaged Commodities, Tourism, Fire Safety, Telephone Services, Weights & Measures, Cable TV, LPG cylinders, Public Toilets, Fair Price Shops, Banking Services and Post Offices among others.

During the Vigilance Awareness Week, GOACAN volunteers will also visit Government offices to check for the availability of the Public Grievance Officer, Citizens Charter and the Suggestion cum Complaint Book.

GOACAN volunteers during this Awareness Week, will make efforts to popularize the benefits of the Right To Information Act 2005 and ensure the implementation of its provisions & the obligations of the notified Public Authorities.

“The awareness week will conclude with the launch by GOACAN of a year long Vigilance Awareness Campaign to tackle the Frauds in Banks and Credit Co-operative Societies due to which depositors are losing their hard earned money”said coordinator Roland Martins
