31 rescues over the course of the week, 20 rescued in the last two days. Beaches witness a spike in visitors during Diwali break.

The past few days have witnessed over 20 rescues along the coast of Goa, with 8 rescues on Thursday which was Diwali and 12 rescues on Friday, Drishti Lifesavers conducted a total of 31 rescues over the course of the week.
The long Diwali weekend has seen a spike in tourist arrivals in the state with many heading to the beaches.
There was a double rescue in Agonda and a triple rescue in Cabo De Rama. The double rescue at Agonda involved a couple from Bengaluru in their thirties who were rescued by lifesavers Vikas Velip and Nilesh Velip. Meanwhile the triple rescue at Cabo De Rama included two males and a female, all of whom hailed from Gujarat. The trio paid no heed after repeatedly being advised by the lifesaver not to venture deep into the water, and then later found themselves caught up in a riptide that dragged them outwards towards the ocean. Two of the victims were rescued by lifesaver Pranab Velip who secured them onto the rescue board while the 3rd victim was secured by lifesaver Mangesh Zaraunkar. All victims are in good condition.
Subsequently, there was a medical emergency at Baga where a 34-year-old male from Bengaluru sustained injuries and started bleeding from his nose and mouth. The victim was immediately handed over to an ambulance on site.
