CONGRESS PAYS TRIBUTE TO NEHRU ON 132nd BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
MAPUSA: North Goa District Congress Committee and Office Bearers on Sunday paid floral tributes to the First Prime Minister of India, late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by garlanding his portrait, to commemorate his 132nd birth anniversary. The occasion is celebrated across the nation as Children’s Day.
The North Goa Congress District Committee President, Vijay Bhike hailed the country’s first and longest serving Prime Minister as a visionary who laid the foundations of modern India.
“Nehru is a hero who was part of the freedom movement and stood fearlessly to protect the unique identity of India. He will always be an inspiration for us as well as the generations to come. He is a true inspiration for us as he was imprisoned on several occasions during the freedom struggle, but this did not deter his spirit,” said Bhike.
While GPCC Vice President, Gurudas Natekar also paid tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.
The function was hosted by the Aldona Block Congress Committee at the North Goa District Congress Committee office in Mapusa, where they expressed immense pride in having a leader like Nehru. The President of Aldona Block Congress Committee, Ashwin De Souza compered the function.
The Calangute Block President, Benedict Dsouza; Mandrem Block President, Narayan Redkar; Pernem Block President, Rudresh Deshprabhu; Congress leader and Sudhir Kandolkar were present on the occasion. While new entrants Tarak Arolkar, Vikas Arolkar and Advocate Jeetendra Gaonkar were also present besides other congress leaders and party workers.
