Congress’s public awareness campaign against inflation set to kick off
MAPUSA: Congress has launched a nationwide ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ campaign to create a public awareness against inflation in the country. The campaign is scheduled to kick start in North Goa beginning with St Cruz, Bicholim, Panaji and Goa Velha on Thursday.
The North Goa Congress District Committee President, Vijay Bhike expressed confidence that the various Congress blocks, district, frontal organisation and cells would work together and make this campaign a great success. “This protest against inflation will be carried out across Goa starting from November 18. Our Former Union minister P Chidambaram and Congress In-Charge of Goa, Dinesh Gundu Rao will also visit two constituencies, Mapusa and Aldona on November 19,” said Bhike.
The Jan Jagran Abhiyan In Charge, Babi Bagkar explained the tentative schedule of this campaign and how this would activate the various cells. “We have split the 20 consistencies in North Goa and every leader will be given five constituencies to overlook. The NSUI, Women’s Wing, Minority and other cells will actively participate in this awareness campaign,” said Bagkar.
While Former Union Law Minister, Adv Ramakant Khalap expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly elections. “We have got to understand from our supporters and party workers that Congress will come to power in the upcoming assembly. We will strive hard to make this possible. Currently we have launched a nationwide ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ to protest against inflation. All the various Congress cells to be part of this Jagor which is a method to activate all our cells. We will listen to the grievances of the various sections of society and also carry out a discussion on the same,” said Khalap.
The Ex Calangute MLA, Agnelo Fernandes highlighted that Congress has come out with pamphlets to circulate the works carried out by them to every household. “The main issues the party plans to address are environment, wildlife, democracy, freedom of speech, affordable fuel prices, health care, education, safety and security of women and transparency in government. We are sure of emerging victorious in north Goa,” said Agnelo.
