MAPUSA MLA SHOULD NOT BLAME COVID-19 FOR HIS INCOMPETENCE, SAYS RG
PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans slammed the Mapusa MLA, Joshua Dsouza for blaming COVID-19 for his incompetence and failure in carrying out development works in Mapusa during the last two years.
Revolutionary Goans Co-ordiantor from Mapusa, Rohan Salgaonkar hits out at the Mapusa MLA for using the pandemic as a reason to shift the blame from his incompetency. Covid was being used as an excuse for carrying out developmental works but nothing stopped the BJP government from carrying out meetings during the pandemic.
“A BJP candidate has been in power in Mapusa constituency for the last two decades. Before Joshua his father was an MLA. However the father-son duo have both failed the people of Mapusa. In case he has done any work before the pandemic then I request the Mapusa MLA to show us what developmental works have been carried out in the Mapusa Constituency under the BJP government? Show the people a performance report card, which would do the talking for him as the assembly elections are drawing near,” stated Rohan.
Slum dwellers and migrant labourers form a major chunk of the vote bank in Mapusa. The slum population here has now formed a sizable chunk of the electorate. Over 30 percent of Mapusa’s population today constitutes of migrants and hence the local authorities have been working only towards improving their lives.
“The children of Cunchelim do not have a playground. The comunidade land and other open spaces across Mapusa have been handed over to the migrants who have built their illegal structures. Out of the 30,000 odd voters in Mapusa nearly 10,000 are migrants who can counter the local votes. This is a very decisive election and the people of Mapusa should vote wisely,” signed off Rohan.
