Revolutionary Goans have ensured to demolish the illegal structure at Old Goa in heritage limits on priority basis and have included the same in their manifesto for the upcoming Goa assembly polls.
Revolutionary Goans Supremo, Manoj Parab termed the protesting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Adv Amit Palekar a publicity seeker who has been driven by his own political agenda.
“This hunger strike by the AAP leader is nothing but BJP’s plan to split secular votes and dilute the Save Old Goa Movement which is a people’s movement. The fight against this illegality does not belong solely to any political party or individual,” clarified Manoj while addressing the media in the capital city on Saturday.
He attacked AAP for trying to win catholic votes by playing religion and caste based politics. These so-called advocates and intellectuals have been ignored by the people of Goa and their frustration has prompted them to perform such publicity gimmicks, felt Manoj.
“Why has the hunger strike ended without the demolition of the structure being carried out or the final demolition order being issued? How many Goan properties has Amit Palekar sold or helped migrants to buy till date? This same man who was supportive of the BJPs destructive IT Hub plan at Chimbel, is today fighting for a structure in Old Goa is surprising. Why did he not stand with the people of his village who were protesting to save their village from the plan that would destroy their village?,” questioned Manoj.
Earlier in the day, Revolutionary Goans offered a thanksgiving mass at Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa, for blessings received throughout their journey to save and fight for the betterment of Goa.
It was largely attended by members and supporters across the state. It was celebrated by Fr. Patricio Fernandes, Rector of the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa.
