Members of Active Mapusa Citizens Association (AMCA) today voiced their anger over the issue of defacement of public property by some political parties during the election campaign. Speaking on the issue AMCA President, Mr. Yogesh Kelkar Said that the Goa state is seeing a very disturbing trend of pasting stickers on public property like bridges and flyovers by some political parties during the ongoing election campaign. He further said that Goa is a world class tourist destination and such acts are tarnishing the image and cultural identity of Goa. He urged the local leaders of these political parties to convey to their leaders that the election campaign in Goa has to be in line with culture of Goa and to not resort to defacement of public property. Instead political parties can put up proper hoardings and banners which will provide much needed employment and generate revenue for the Panchyats And Municipalities in the state of Goa. AMCA has given a five day ultimatum to remove all such stickers failing which complaints will be filed for this offence with the authorities.
