Minister for Waste management science and Technology and ports Michael lobo said the solid waste treatment plant at Saligao which has been enhanced to handle two hundred and fifty tonnes of waste from the earlier 100 tonnes per day which will be of great benefit for the entire North Goa district and added that the enhanced faciltiy will be inaugrated on Monday.
Lobo was speaking at the 60th anniversary celebrations of Goa liberation day function held at the deputy collector’s office at Mapusa in the presence of chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal council Shubangi vaigankar and the councillors
. Earlier the waste management minister unfurled the national tricolor which was followed by a marching parade by the Goa police battalion. As part of the celebrations the students of various schools across Mapusa also sang patriotic songs as part of the liberation day celebrations.
“the state of the art common bio medical faciltiy which has been set up a kundaim for collection and treatment and disposal of bio medical waste generated in the state of GOa is another feather to the cap of waste management in its achievments” said lobo
“in keeping pace with the swach bharat abhiyan of our prime minister Narendra modi the waste management corporation has undertaken the setting up of various bio digestor based toilets covering all the panchayats and municipal areas of the state” Lobo further said
speaking further Michael lobo said that the science and technology department is in the process of encouraging research based activities throught the shcools and colleges in the state and added that an uprgraded astronomical obsevatroy will be inaugrated soon
with regards to RDA department lobo said that his department has focussed on maximum utilization of the central government schemes to make the lives of the people in rural areas more comfortable and said that he has been successful in getting maximum benefits to the people of bardez
speaking on the COVID-19 pandemic Lobo said that the pandemic has caused unprecedent misery across the globe and its effect has also been experienced in our state of GOa and said that though normalcy is in sight it is important that the people dont let down our guard and instead follow all the norms and COVID-19 behaviour

Meanwhile as part of the GOa liberation day celebrations the Indian national flag was also unfurled by Mapusa by MLA Joshua D’Souza at the martyrs memorial in the presence of chairperson of Mapusa municipal council Shubanghi vaigankar and all the councilors. as part of the Goa liberation day function a health camp organized by Aam Aadmi party at Mapusa residency received a very good response
