Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has requested the village panchayat of Candolim to take steps to protect the mangroove cover which is located on Bundh from nerul bridge to caculo house at candolim
Lobo was speaking to reporters after inaugrating the works of the strengthening and renovation of the existing bundh from Nerul bridge to caculo house Candolim bardez, the works have been taken by the candolim panchayat in collaboration with the WRD department. Also present were sarpanch of Candolim VP blaize Fernandes and all the panch members and officers from the WRD department namely the executive engineers, assistant engineers and Junior engineers and others. the total cost of the bundh is rs 8 crores and for the benefit of the people there will also be a pathway constructed with laterite stones also a fishing gallery will also be built at four locations whereby the people can come and do fishing and also a laterite stone wall of 7.30 meters will be constructed including interlocking paver blocks, rcc slab over sluice gate and also landscaping an artist will also depict the rich tradition of Candolim and also the cultural heritage of the village on the candolim bundh .
“we will keep our developement agenda continuously going ahead to make this place beautiful and also to protect the mangroves as its going to be looking like a mangrove forest and my request to the sarpanch is to take steps to protect the mangrove as this is the richeness of this village” said lobo adding that the village of candolim is rich on one side with the mangroves and beautiful river and one side by the sea so this adds to the natural beauty
