Saligao: The Nationalist Congress party has demanded with the state government to hold the state task force commitee meeting on COVID 19 as soon as possible inorder to curb the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19 as the state is witnessing heavy tourists footfalls as the New year is soon approaching .
it may be recalled that the Goa government had decided not to impose night curfew in the coastal state for now so that the tourism business amid the Christmas-New Year festival season is not affected. sawant had stated said his government was monitoring the COVID-19 positivity rate and stringent decisions would be taken during the meeting of the task force scheduled to be held on January 3 in case this rate rises.
Addressing a news conference at Mapusa NCP General secretary Sanjay Barde criticized chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant for taking a decision to hold a meeting of the task force scheduled to be held on January 3 when there was a need for the meeting to be held during the chirstmas new year week which witnesses heavy tourist flow .
“tourists attending the sunburn party which is going on during the chirstmas new year week in Anjuna are not maintaining social distancing and are also not wearing face masks and flouting all COVID 19 norms now the chief minister is saying that the task force meeting is going to be held in Jan 3 when it had to be taken during this crucial wek the in wake of scare of the omnicorn variant” said Barde
further castigating the BJP government on COVID-19 management Barde said that BJP governemnt is itself involved in spreading COVID-19 and then imposing all the COVID-19 restrictions whenever it felt it was appropriate it should be done and added that the BJP had its election campaigns some four months by flouting all the the COVID-19 protocols and now was deciding to hold a meeting again to chalk out steps to curb spread the of the new variant .
