PANAJI: Election Commission of India has finally granted registration to Revolutionary Goans as a political party and allotted them football as an election symbol few months ahead of the assembly polls.
The Revolutionary Goans Supremo, Manoj Parab displayed immense pleasure on the party being registered as a political party after numerous attempts and extended their greetings to the people of the state.
“We are very grateful to Advocate Carlos Alvares Ferreira who has successfully defended the objection filed against us during our registration process. We are indebted to him for tirelessly working to help us become a political party. Due to him today our party has got registered, has a certificate and also a symbol. He has clarified that Ghati is a word, POGO bill is legal, we are not unconstitutional, and RG is not anti-national,” said Manoj while addressing the media at the party office on Saturday.
“We wanted to give the people of Goa this good news on the occasion of New Years day. The decision whether to contest as Goa Su-Raj Party or Revolutionary Goans Party will be taken later. The executive committees from both the parties will sit together and decide the future course of action. Collectively we will decide on which party and symbol we will go ahead and contest the upcoming assembly elections,” he added.
Also present at the briefing were RG leaders, Viresh Borkar, Vishvesh Naik, Shrikrishna Parab and Gauresh Gaonkar.
