Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the works of the new bridge on Tar River at Mapusa will be completed before the onset of the moonsons this year

chief minister was speaking after Inaugurating the works of phase one of the the new proposed mapusa bus stand in the presence of Mapusa MLA Joshua D’souza MMC Chairperson Mrs.Shubhangi Vaigankar, MMC Vice-Chairperson Chandrashekhar Benkar, KTC MD Sanjay Ghate, ADT Mapusa Madan Phatarpekar, GSIDC GM Jude Carvalho, Councillors, Ward Members and others.

the new upgraded Mapusa bus terminus has been built at a cost of Rs 4.91 crore.the new premises will have a parking space for 50 buses, 64 two-wheeler vehicles, 44 four-wheeler vehicles, 50 autorickshaws and 11 tempos. in the first phase there will also be the KTC office, passenger shed, driver’s room, canteen, toilet. The new bus stand will also be illuminated with a high mast and a ten-metre wide road leading to the Mapusa sub yard.

“The government has planned to beautify the area around the river Tar with the necessary infastructure and the WRD and DMA has aldready commenced the work of designing the plan for the beautification and the within three years it will be beneficial not only for the people of Mapusa but also for the tourists visiting the state ” said sawant .

Speaking further Chief minister said the the second phase of the bus stand will also be ready on a different model and added that while executing the works the shops of the buisnessmen will not be touched

chief minister also said that the foundation stone for the Ravindra Bhavan will also be laid in a short span of time.

speaking further chief minister said that there has been a growth in tourism as 90 lakh tourist visit the state every day from the earlier 24 lakh tourists.

” once the Mopa Airport starts functioning, Mapusa will also become the number one city in Goa” said sawant

speaking further Mapusa MLA said that the chief minister had assured the people of mapusa that he would complete the works of the bus stand if the Mapusa seat is won by the BJP

the entire bus stand is not completed but the works of the first phase which were initiated have now been completed” said Joshua D’souza
