BJP stifled the democracy of Goa; lets us protect Goa: Shashi Tharoor
PANAJI: Alleging that BJP has stifled the democracy of Goa and has assaulted environment, the Chairman of All India Professionals’ Congress Dr. Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday promised to address all the issues grappled with Goa, that too due to faulty policies of saffron party.
Tharoor was interacting with people of Goa on Tuesday, over Digital Town Hall. Former Minister, Working President TPCC In-Charge Dr. J Geeta Reddy, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Goa In charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Chairman of GPCC Professional Congress Elvis Gomes and others participated.
“Irrespective of caste, creed, language, place and origin, the Congress party has always worked in the best interest of the country. The Congress government, in the past, always controlled inflation and gave tool of RTI for transparency. But the BJP tried to dilute this tool.”Tharoor said.
Whilst saying beautiful Goa is a gift to India and Country, Tharoor said that the BJP government has tried to convert Goa into a coal hub by fostering three linear projects. “Ethos, rich culture and fabric of Goa should be preserved. I promise that once Congress comes to power the people of Goa will be in safe and protected hands. Goa should flourish, that is our aim.” He said.
“Congress will uphold democracy and give freedom of speech to people. We will empower Lokayukt and social harmony will be protected. Everyone in Goa should live harmoniously.” He said.
Attacking BJP, he said that BJP failed to tackle COVID, resulting in many patients dying due to shortage of Oxygen. “It failed to give a safe environment to women and children, failed to give jobs to youths.” He said.
He said that Goan identity should not get diluted and Congress will work in that regard.
Dr. J Geeta Reddy said that Congress had made Goa a hub of tourism, where many international tourists used to come for holiday. “The BJP govt failed to attract tourists.” She said.
She appealed to vote for Congress to steer Goa, progress of which has been derailed by BJP.
Digambar Kamat said that Congress rule in Goa was known as prosperity and BJP’s rule is known as poverty. “BJP has failed in all areas and make progress in Goa.” He said.
