The Trinamool Congress Calangute unit has stated that party members will work unitedly to ensure the defeat of the Congress backed candidate in calangute constituency
Addressing a conference in calangute TMC leader Agnelo fernandes said that They are frustrated with the earlier BJP MLA Michael lobo who had joined the Congress party as he had done nothing for the people but was only interested in filling his pockets
Lobo has converted the entire Baga-Candolim belt into an “urban zone” when the people still don’t have sufficient water and electricity” said fernandes
Under the tenure of the former BJP MLA huge tracts of land had been converted into ‘settlement zones’ but there is no water or electricity supply, leave aside sewage and garbage collection and treatment facilities to cater to the increased load” Fernandes further said
The Calangute block of the Goa Trinamool Congress also condemned the government for the decision to hire more than 100 taxis from Maharashtra for election-related works and not giving an opportunity to state taxi owners who are without business due to COVID pandemic in Goa.
“The governments decision to hire more than 100 taxis from Maharashtra due to the low rate card has severely affected the business of the local taxi owners who are suffering due to lack of business due to the COVID-19 pandemic and business opportunity could have been given to the Goans.” said fernandes
