Rotary club of mhapsa elite and rotaract club of mapusa in association with Martial Arts academy, goa, conducted a free self defense workshop on 26th January, at mapusa. Over 50 people took the benefit of this free workshop. Mr. Sitakant Kamat and team from martial arts academy were the resource team for the workshop.
The inaugural event was attended by Dr. Pratiksha Khalap (president, Rotary club of mhapsa elite); Rtr. Amey varerkar (president, rotaract club of mapusa); Mr. Sitakant Kamat (self defence trainer); other rotary members – Rtn. Nandakishore Arolkar, Rtn. Prakash Pilankar, Rtn. Uday Redkar, Rtn. Rupesh Shetye, Rtn. Shant Gudanwar, other rotaractors and co-trainers from martial arts academy Mrs. Maya Kamat and Miss. Aastha Kamat.
The take away message to all was that – “Self-defence is not just our right, but our duty”. Self-defence training helps us protect ourselves and our neighbour’s as well. It’s not just for protection but also helps in physical fitness, increases ones confidence and self-esteem.
