MAPUSA MANIFESTO STRESSES ON ‘DEVELOPMENT’

MAPUSA: Mapusa has barely witnessed any major revamp or development in the last two decades despite the town having grown exponentially in terms of commercial activity, the Congress Mapusa candidate Sudhir Kandolkar’s manifesto stated. The former MMC chairperson has promised to address the issues plaguing the common man and the age-old neglected city.
“The current BJP-MLA has carried out no development despite being in the ruling party and the GSIDC Ltd (Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd), Vice President. If voted to power I will carry out the works that the people of Mapusa have been waiting for years,” alleged Sudhir while addressing the media at the Congress office on Friday after releasing his manifesto.
The construction of a new bus stand and a Ravindra Bhavan tops his list while he will also address the issue of lack of parking facility and decongesting the city.
Among other promises, he has also assured to effectively control encroachment on communidade and government lands in the town, complete the long pending sewerage works, set up of a waste management project, hot-mixing of roads, and construction of footpaths. He has also assured to set up a women’s market for the self-help groups.
Sudhir expressed confidence that Congress will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections and the people will vote for the hand symbol.
The North Goa District President, Vijay Bhike and GPCC Vice President Dr Pramod Salgaocar was also present at the occasion.
