Mapusa: President of Aldona commundiade Melwyn Fernandes, who was recentley attacked by a group of goons has stated that ther attack on him was pre planned by his political opponents and added that there is a complete collapse of law and order in the state

it may be recalled that Melwyn fernandes was attacked by one Yogesh Gadekar and Around 10-12 people who had trespassed into his property. According to a complaint filed by the victim with the police the incident took place near an open air hall at Aldona at around 4.30 pm where melwyn fernandes was assaulted by Gadekar causing him severe injuries on his head. Fernandes was immediately rushed to the Mapusa Police Station in bleeding condition by a reporter from a local TV news channel to lodge a complaint against the alleged accused. The vicitm was then taken to the North District Hospital and later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for treatment.according to the victim one Melwyn fernandes one mr Samir Gadekar along with others was painting a cross at Aldona, near an open air hall owned by the victim and later when the complainant along with his wife arrived at the spot, an altercation broke out between the complainant and alleged accused persons, which further turned into a physical fight where the suspects hit the victim with a dangerous weapon like a rod resulting in head injuries.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered offences under Section 452, 504, 509, 308 and 506 (ii) read with 34 of Indian Penal Code against alleged accused Gadekar and others and placed him under arrest. PSI Vibha Valvaikar is further investigating the case. Mapusa Police later also arrested Yogesh Gadekar for brutally attacking a resident of Aldona Melwyn Fernandes

addressing a news conference melwyn said that the attackers were persons of former thivim MLA and from this it shows that the peaceful village of Aldona has become a village of goons and goonda raj which shows that there is complete collapse of law and order in the State” said fernandes

“its my request to the chief minister dr Pramod sawant to intervene and to put an end to goondaism in the peaceful village of Aldona and also in the state of Goa ” said fernandes.
