As per the IMA HQ directive , IMA GOA State shall observe Friday 1st April as Protest day because of the death by suicide of Dr. Archana Sharma , a young Gynaecologist from Dausa , Rajasthan due to the stress of Mobocracy , Media trial , Violence & demands of extortion for a death of a patient with PPH and no fault of hers.
IMA GOA STATE condemns these dastardly acts of the political leaders and the irresponsible working of the police officer and demands strict action action against the leaders who incited the mob as well as against the police officials for bowing to pressures and filing the case wrongly . Political leaders should maintain decorum and strive to bring about amicable solutions of problems rather than create chaos . Police officers should apply their mind sensibly and go according to the law .
All doctors will wear black bands. A protest meeting will be held at Panjim opposite the Old GOA Medical College main entrance at 10.15 am. After the meeting, a delegation of IMA will meet and present memorandum to the Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant and to the DIG , Shri Parmaditya.
. IMA GOA STATE will be interacting with the local police officials to see that handling of any such cases in the state will be in accordance with the fundamental principles as laid down by the Supreme Court and NMC.
