Panaji: Hosts Super 30 clinched the U-12 and U-10 titles at the Nagoa Gold Cup 2022, first all-Goa 5-a-side football tournament, at Nagoa Futsal Arena, Nagoa, on Saturday.
In the U-10 final, Super 30 defeated Salvador 5-1 with Aryan scoring a brace and Kiyan netting a hattrick.
Later in the U-12 final, Super 30 got the better of YBT 3-1. Klyne starred with a brace and Macbert was the other scorer. Vasu reduced the margin for YBT.
Teams from all over Goa participated in the two-day tournament.
Super 30 is run by former international footballer Ricardo Cardozo. He was the goalkeeper of Bengaluru FC, Mumbai FC, Churchill Brothers FC, Mohan Bagan and also a Tata Football Academy. He now runs his academy at Candolim in association with the village panchayat and also an Excellence Centre at Arpora with a state-of-the-art facilities to develop grassroots talent in Goa.
“The tournament was a beautiful display of talent. The environment was very electric with teams, kids, parents cheering. The talented kids just lighted up the arena with their performances. Looking forward to have many more and participate in grassroots tournaments across Goa,” said Cardozo.
On Friday, teams took part in the U-12 category were Vintage 73, A5, Apollo, Mannar Boys, Anjuna Celtics, B 23 Academy, Denzil Franco Football Schools and Super 30. The teams were divided into two groups and the competition was held on a league-cum-knockout basis.
Super 30 from group A and B 23 Academy from Group B made it to the semifinals. In the penultimate clash, Super 30 got the better of B23 Academy with Klyne, Macbert, Joel and Yug getting on the scoresheet.
In the U-10 category, Denzil Franco Football Schools, Vintage 73, Play Goa, Nagoa 5, Anjuna Celtics and Super 30 took part. Super 30 topped group A followed by Vintage 73 and in group B, Play Goa topped the group with Nagoa 5 as runnersup.
Super 30 Soccer Schools’ two teams made it to the semifinals — Super 30 and Vintage 73. Super 30 got the better of Vintage 73 after an exciting match.
On the second day, Voody FA, FC Benaulim, Rising Stars, Mount Carmel, Play Goa, JPG, YBT and Super 30 played on a league-cum-knockout basis in two groups of the U-12 category. Rising Stars and YBT topped each group with the latter emerging top.
In the final, Super 30 defeated YBT 3-1 with Klyne scoring a brace and Macbert scoring a goal while Vasu reduced the margin for YBT.
In the U-10 category, it was Mount Carmel, Voody Shooters, Voody Dribblers, JPG, Salvador and Super 30 ‘B’ fought for a place in the final. Group 1 was topped by Voody Shooters while Mount Carmel came second. Salvador topped the other group and Voody Dribblers came second. Salvador reached the final after defeating Voody Shooters.
In the U-10 final, Super 30 defeated Salvador 5-1 with Aryan scoring a brace and Kiyan scoring a hattrick.
Individual prizes: U-10 best goalkeeper: Saksham (Salvador), best player: Aryan (Super 30). U-12 best goalkeeper: Arjun (Super 30), best player: Joel (Super 30).
