Margao – Supreme Courts affirmation to the recommendation of Central Empowered Committee (CEC) and cancellation of National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) clerance granted to Railway Double Tracking is victory of Goans who fought to protect Environment, Forest & Wildlife & preserve Identity of Goa said Margao MLA and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
Reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court today, Digambar Kamat said that Goans fought with slogans “Save Mollem from Destruction” and “Only Goal Say No To Coal” to ensure that Goa is not converted into a Coal Hub.
I was part of most of the agitations opposing the Three Linear Projects. We protested at the headquarters of South Westen Railway in Hubli and submitted a Memorandum to the General Manager demnding scrapping of double tracking.
I participated with the People of Goa and created awareness against the destructive projects through various initiatives like the night vigils at Chandor, Velsao, St. Jose Areal, Padyatra from Mollem to Mormugao, Public Meeting at Lohia Maidan, Margao. I also raised the issue in the Goa Legislative Assembly urging government to listen to peoples voice said Digambar Kamat.
I am committed to be the voice of the people and will continue to ensure that Identity, Culture and Heritage of Goa is always protected and preserved stated Digambar Kamat.
