MAPUSA: Super 30 Goa’s dominance in Indian football inter academy at all levels is hard to argue with. Ricardo Cardozo’s U-18 team aren’t the only ones to clinch the Baroda Football Academy (BFA) Cup 2022 title. His U-11 and U-13 have also won the title in the All India football tournament played at Duler stadium, Mapusa over the weekend.
In the U-18 match, Super 30 Goa edged past Valpoi in a nail-biting final round encounter. The teams went in aggressive to ensure they win the title and the match was equally poised until a Super30 player was brought down near the box. In which a free-kick was awarded to Karan Fialho made no mistake with his beautifully timed curler which rattled the net. Crossing over, Soham Nagvekar netted a brace to help his team record a facile 3-0 win over Valpoi.
In the U-13 final, Super 30 Goa supressed Baroda FA in an 8-goal thriller. The open and fast-paced match saw Yugh and Arsh scoring a brace, while Valain, Durgesh and Daniel netted one each. Baroda FA conceded an own goal to further increase the lead.
While in the U-11 finals played earlier on Friday, Super 30 Goa got the better of Voody FC, 6-3. Joel starred with a hat-trick and Jaeden, David and Ethan were the other scorers for the day. While Almer reduced the lead for the latter.
Teams from all over India participated in the three-day tournament.
Super 30 is run by former international footballer Ricardo Cardozo. He now runs his academy at Candolim in association with the village panchayat and an Excellence Centre at Arpora with a state-of-the-art facility to develop grassroots talent in Goa.
“I am overwhelmed by the performance of my teams. It was a brilliant display of talent from all of our participants here. We have now begun to see the results of the hard work put in by the coaches. Super 30 Soccer School is being supported by the Candolim Village Panchayat. Over the last three years the Candolim Sarpanch, Blaize Fernandes and other panch members have been very supportive and helped us reach this far. The Nagoa Sarpanch, Shrikrishna Nagvekar has been a pillar of support to the Nagoa center,” said Ricardo.
