  • ROTARY AND THE FIGHT AGAINST POLIO

*Rotary Club of Mhapsa Elite* along with *Rotakids club of Mhapsa Elite* organized a bicycle rally ” *pedal for cause* ” on 29th May (Sunday) at Mapusa. This rally was conducted to create awareness on polio immunization.

A total of *80 cyclists* registered (the youngest one being 6-years-old and the oldest aged 51 years).

The rally flagged off from Bodgeshwar temple parking area and back via gandhi circle – mapusa police station – khorlim sim – mapusa taxi stand.

The rally was followed by a *slow Cycling competition* for kids aged 5 to 15 years. This initiative was appreciated by all mhapsekars and received a very good response.

The event was inaugurated by *Rtn. Dr. Pratiksha Khalap* (President, RC Mhapsa Elite) and flagged off by *Rtn. Prakash Pilankar* (community service director). *Rtn. Shant Gudanwar* as the project chairman presented the welcome address and
*Dr. Nutan Bicholkar* (councillor of ward no. 6) kindly consented to be the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. *Dr. Nutan* in her address mentioned that Rotary is known to bring together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won’t stop until we end the disease for good.
