Cumbarjua MLA ensures prompt redressal for Old Goa circle flooding
PANAJI: Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai personally inspected the Mahatma Gandhi circle that was suffering from water logging due to the incessant rains and directed the Public Works Department to promptly rectify the issue, which thanks to his timely intervention was cleared by workers of the PWD department.
The Mahatma Gandhi Circle in Old Goa that is at the Centre of the World Heritage Complex in Old Goa was flooded after barely a few showers earlier this week and posed a huge inconvenience to motorists, pedestrians as well as those who were visiting the area as tourists.
Taking note of reports in the media that highlighted the water logging problem,
Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Phaldesai today personally inspected the Site Near Gandhi Circle which was seen flooding with rain water in the morning after which he had already instructed the PWD Officials to get the flooding issue resolved soon as possible
After the timely intervention of the MLA, the PWD dispatched workers who cleared the blockages of the underground drains allowing the water to flow out.
Faldessai thanked the engineers of the PWD department, the Old Goa Fire Station officials and the Village Panchayat of Sé Old Goa for their assistance in ensuring that the work was promptly carried out and the problem resolved.
The MLA also called on locals in his constituency to reach out to him in case of any monsoon related assistance they may require be it regarding flooding, water logging, improper roads or ferry services and promised to come to their assistance.
