Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj was a great social reformer and a social warrior who ignited the spark of social revolution. While preserving their heritage, every youth today has a basic need to become a social warrior and protect their society and nation. A small beautiful state like Goa is plagued by drugs and addiction. Nidhi Sahasi, a counselor and psychotherapist from Punjab, said that the younger generation should work with Shahu Maharaj’s vision to save themselves and others from it.
Nidhi Sahasi interacted with the students at a seminar organized by Keri New English High School on the occasion of Shahu Maharaj Jayanti, Social Justice Day and World Anti-Drug Day and Illicit Trafficking Day.
Along with Sahasi, senior teacher of the school Nishita Akarkar and Satyawan Harji were also present for the function.
As Goa is a global tourist destination, youth are more likely to fall prey to drugs. The problem is much more complex in coastal areas. Addiction to drugs can wreak havoc not only on personal life but also on family and social life. Those found in this trap can be taken out and rehabilitated. He also said that it would be wise to be aware of these addictions and stay away from them.
Nidhi Sahni gave guidance in two groups for children of class 7th and 8th and class 9th and 10th on the occasion of the seminar. Students Chaitali Kubal, Tanvi Sawal, Sujit Yadav, Divyanur Singh, Umera Khan, Sadhvi, Chaitali Ranganekar, Bhakti Kaloji, Devyani Harji displayed anti-drug awareness posters.
