True Goan spirit at Janmasthami celebrations, says Aldona MLA
Panaji: People across religions participated in the Krishna Janmasthami celebrations in true Goan spirit of camaraderie, said Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira.
He was speaking after attending various Dahi Handi events in his constituency on Friday.
Adv Ferreira attended the Janmasthami function at Shree Krishna Panch Temple at Dhupem, Ucasssim, followed by a Dahi Handi event at Shree Devi Bhagwati Sakleshwar at Quitula, Aldona.
The MLA also attended the celebrations at Laxmi Narayan Temple at Carona, Aldona.
“The Bhajan performance (that included ragas) culminating with Arti at the temple was a truly memorable experience,” he added.
Dahi Handi is celebrated a day after Krishna Janmashtami, and is marked with religious fervour.
Many groups of youngsters partook in the events by forming human pyramids and climbing over each other to break the handi.
