Tourism minister Rohan khaunte said that he is working on a very clear plan of making Goa the creative and tourism capital of the country under the IT sector .khaunte further stated that Goa needs to concentrate on hinterland tourism rather than just focusing on tourism focusing sun sea and sand
khaunte was speaking to reporters at the sidelines of an exhibition on PM narendra Modi put up at the Hanuman Natyagraha Mapusa. besides Khaunte also present for the exhibition were chairperson of mapusa Municipal council Shubanghi vaigankar, BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavde, former Aldona MLA Glenn ticlo and others.
“we have decided to focus on non-conventional verticals like hinterland, backwater tourism, medical tourism, well ness tourism for the growth of tourism industry which will showcase goa as a tourism capital of the country which was largely impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic” said Khaunte
speaking on the issue of the increasing number of deaths related to over does of drugs consumption in the state Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that linking deaths related to drugs to Goa tourism is unfortunate and urged the media to create a positive image of Goa portraying Goa as a safe and secure tourist destination
“we have raised the issue of deaths due drugs consumption with the chief minister and the chief minister has taken a very clear stand on fighting the issue by creating awarness and promoting the theme of say no to drugs” said Khaunte adding that besides drugs even other illegalities related to the tourism trade have been raised with the chief minister
