DySP North SDPO Vishvesh karpe said that most of the drug related cases in the state are linked to african nationals and the police are booking the african nationala and keeping them in detention centres or even deporting them to their country

karpe was speaking a the sidelines of an awarness programme on Drug abuse and child abuse organised by the calangute police station victim assistance unit in collaboration with St Theresa’s higher secondary school Candolim.

The programme aimed at creating awareness on drug abuse and and methods that to combat drug abuse among the youth.
“This year in the last many months we have registered a number of drug abuse related cases among the age group of 18-22 years and allong with prosecution it is also necessary that awareness is made a part of dealing with this entire crisis of drug abuse in the schools located this coastal belt which is frequented by a large number of tourists ” said karpe

. It is essential that a collaborative effort is initiated and the police along with teachers and various other social organisations that have been dealing in this area need to come together,” he further said .

as part of the programme an awarness talk on child abuse by Goa based registered NGO SCAN india was given to the students also a demonstration on self defence techniques were shown to the girl students to help them in combat incase of any attack on them
