On the occasion of World Rabies Day, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services started a dog vaccination drive in the state from Wednesday, September 28.
The program which was held near the colvale Panchayat office was started by Minister Nilakant Harlankar. At this time the director of the department Dr. Augustine Mesquita collage Sarpanch Shital Chodankar, Deputy Sarpanch, Panch members and officials were present. The campaign will be implemented from September 28 to November 1 in 143 panchayats in 12 talukas of the state. At this time, the campaign was started by showing the hand of harlankar .
On the occasion of World Rabies Day, efforts will be made to make the state of Goa rabies free through this campaign. Harlankar appealed to more and more citizens to get their dogs vaccinated. For that, he suggested to go to the veterinary clinic in his nearby area.
For the last four years, not a single rabies patient has been found in Goa. And in order to continue this situation further, this vaccination campaign is going to be undertaken in the border areas for twelve months to prevent this rabies virus from entering Goa from the neighbouring states. Similarly, Harlankar explained that there is a need for awareness in this regard from every household.
