Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said that there is a need to for agriculture revolution in Goa ,and stated that there will be a revolution in the agriculture sector only if the youth come forward and take up agriculture as it can be a good source of income for them and make them self employed
Lobo was speaking to reporters the the sidelines of the inauguration of Harvesting Machine at parra.. The harvester for the benefit the farmers of Calangute was launched by Michael lobo in the presence of sarpanch of Parra Chandrakant harmalkar, deputy sarpanch Daniel Lobo and all the panch members. The machine has been provided free of cost to the farmers of Calangute by Lobo. Lobo stated that the harvester machines would benefit farmers from Calangute constituency, including the villages of Calangute, Arpora-Nagoa, Candolim and Parra.
‘There is need for youth to concentrate on farming and grow green vegetables in their backyards, gardens and agriculture land. If the youth grow veggies at home than there will be no need to buy veggies from the neighbouring States” said lobo
“the local farmers and the memebrs of the farmes club should encourage and support the youth and bring them into agriculture and make them self employed by selling their farming produce ” said Lobo
lobo further urged the farmers and farmerbs club to convince the farmers who have kept their farm land vacant and not ploughing thm,e to come forward and plough them” said Lobo
in olden times our ancestors did farming and earned their livelihood so now more and more people should move towards farming which will make them self employed and give them some source of income” Lobo further added.
speaking further lobo stated that that subsidy for farmers should be also released by the agriculture department and said that he will write to the chief minister to increase the support price not only for paddy but also for onions and chilies as the onions and chillies that are grown in Goa are famous all over world.
