Aunty Matty who hails from the touristic village of calangute turned 111 on Tuesday. she is deemed to be the oldest living senior citizen in the state and in calangute and her birthday was celebrated by pomp by all the Calangutkars. The Eucharistic celebration as part of her birthday celebrations was celebrated by fr Mathew along with the assistant parish priest Fr Joevit Dcosta .
“This is truly a proud moment for all the villagers of calangute as we have the oldest senior citizen in the state hailing from the village of calangute and I feel that the grace of God has kept her alive for so many years“ said a local Jil Rodrigues
Another villager Regina Nortan said that she never grumbled and whatever sickness came to her she took it with a smile and she loved everyone around her
