New Power Sub Station at Calangute is expected to be inaugurated on 14 November 2022. Work will be completed by Next week. Total cost of Project is 25 Cr said Calangute MLA Michael Lobo.
Lobo was speaking to reporters after visiting the new power substation located at arradi calangute along with deputy sarpanch calangute Geeta parab, panch member Prasad shirodkar and others
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said that the power deficiency in Calangute would be solved very soon with the commissioning of the new sub-station at Arradi, Calangute.
lobo said that the work of setting up a 33/11 KV gas-insulated sub-station (2×20 MVA) along with the associated equipment is almost complete and is expected to be inaugurated as early as next week.
The sub-station is equipped with quality equipment and is the most modern facility. The sub-station is completed in record time and is designed to take care of the power needs of the Calangute village . the foundation stone for the sub-station project was laid by the then-Power Minister Nilesh Cabral in August 2021 and the work on the project was expected to be completed in December last year.
The total estimated cost of the project was Rs 25 crore including the cost of the land.
there was an urgent need to upgrade the bigger Saligao sub-station which will act as the power-house of Bardez and to do that we need to bring tower lines from Colvale to Saligao” said lobo and added that the substation is the need of the hour inorder to build infrastructure in the coastal belt which is home to several hotels, guest houses, shacks .
speaking on the water supply issue lobo said that issue will be resolved after the construction of a water treatment plant in Pilerne.
