Calangute panchayat on Thursday intercepted a car and caught the driver red handed while he was dumping debris of a Nagao construction site along a road side field at Porbhavaddo Calangute. Vehicle was seized and fine of Rs 25000 was imposed.

The incident came to light after a local and former panch member Eknath salgaonkar noticed the driver of the car stopping his car and dumping the debris in his field. He then informed calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira who rushed to the spot and halted the illegal activity and questioned the driver of the vehicle from where he got the debris the driver told the sarpanch that he got a debris from a construction site located at Nagoa. Sarpanch along with the panchayat secretary Arjun velip contacted the owner of the construction Jaiswant singh and told him to come to the debris dumping site. The calangute panchayat along with heavy police protection issued a fine of rs 25,000 to the owner and requested the owner to immediately take out the debris from the site. the debris was with mud and stone

“We came to know that the debris was brought from a construction site located at Arpora we will not tolerate such type of illegal dumping of debris in the fields and I will continue to act sternly on such kind of illegal activity by imposing fines” said Joseph sequeira
