With the menace of touting still on the rise in the calangute coastal belt Sarpanch Joseph sequeira have issued a notice to hotels not to allow Top lite Company to set up an office in their hotels. Our Police have become inefficient in tackling this menace, will be writing to the chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant & IGP urging him to put their attention and put an end to this menance.
It may be recalled that certain section of the media had highlighted the issue of a touts duping the tourist by offering him a holiday package recently a tourist from Haryana residing in a guest house had been duped by a fraudster company toplite holidays private limited promising the tourists to provide them with holidays and swindling them and forcing them to pay a cash amount of 75,000. The tourist then approached sarpanch of calangute Joseph sequeira and sequeira had assured the tourist of solving the issue and dealing firmly on the issue of the touts operating in the village
The day before yesterday while going to the bank I saw some more touts entering another hotel in calangute and so out of curiosity I questioned the receptionist and we came to know that there were touts from this same agency operating from this hotel and they were swindling them by offering touting services in the guise of holiday packages ” said sequeira
So If the panchayat can go and arrest the touts solve this issue of touting I fail to understand why the police or even the law enforcing agencies can’t solve it” questioned Sequeira adding that this touting activity was bringing a bad name to the village
