The Dayanand Bandodkar international airport mopa namakaran sangrash samittee has demanded that the new new green field international airport at Mopa be named after Goa’s 1st CM Dayanand Bandodkar
A public awareness meeting was held at calangute on Saturday the meeting was attended by president of the samittee eknath Narvekar and members of the committee namely Tushar tople, Mahesh Rane and others
“considering the social work, contribution in the field of health, education, industrial development and overall development, the Mopa airport should be named after Bandodlar” said Narvekar
“Dayanand Bandodkar commonly known as Bhausaheb Bandodkar was a Bahujan stalwart, he laid the foundation stone for modern Goa. Goa’s political, economical and educational infrastructure was built by Bandodkar. He was a visionary leader who endeavoured to provide justice to Kul mundkars.” Narvekar further said
“Bhausaheb was the true leader of the soil and being born in Mapusa He represented the Mandrem constituency belonging to Pernem Taluka in the assembly. Since Mopa falls under Pernem taluka, the airport should be named after Bhausaheb Bandodkar,” added Narvekar .
Speaking further committee member and former councillor of Mapusa tushar tople said that airport in the state should be named after this tall Goan leader considering his contribution to the state .
Remembering late dayanand Bandodkar Adv Mahesh rane said that
India’s first motorcycle taxi pilots were regularized by bringing a law in Goa and that was was all possible only due to Bandodkar.” Said rane
Speaking further Rajendra Korgaonkar said that the late bahusaeb Bandodkar worked towards bringing great strides in the field on education and treated all religions equally irrespective of their religions and so it is the duty of the government to name the mopa airport after late Bahusaeb Bandodkar
