inorder to provide a platform to the rural Producers/Artisans to expose and market their products through Exhibitions in various States of India The Goa SARAS Fair will be organized at Campal Ground Panaji from beginning from 20 the december and ending on the 31st of december .
SARAS is an initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India to provide a platform to the rural Producers/Artisans to expose and market their products through Exhibitions in various States of India. SARAS Fairs were introduced in the year 1999-2000 when Ministry of Rural Development participated for the first time in India International Trade Fair (IITF), 1999 under the banner of SARAS. A major initiative is taken by the State in the direction of promoting rural products and building capacities of Swarozgaris (Self Help Groups) with a view to give exposure to rural artisans/entreprneurs to develop markets for products manufactured by them and also to create awareness amongst urban consumers about rural products and t0 access gainful
self-employment by creating efficient and effective institutional platforms.
The DRDA has invited the Self Help Groups and rural artisans from Goa and all the States to participate in the SARAS. Around 320 stalls will be erected at the exhibition site, out of which 71 stalls will be allotted to SHGs from various States and the remaining 250 stalls will be allotted among the Goan SHGs and some non-SHG artisans.
The stalls and accommodation will be allotted free of cost to the participants from other States Various products manufactured by the members of the Self Help Groups like
handicrafts eg. Coconut shell products, jute bags ete. Eatable items like banana/ jackfruit chips, home made healthy ladoos and cashew seeds etc; handloom products like kunbi sarees and other handloom sarees, garments and textiles, services like home stay services run by SHGs will be displayed.
Besides, there will be 3 outstation food courts and 2 Goan Food Courts which will be managed by the SHG women’s organizations.The inaugural function will be held on 20.12.2022 at 4.00 p.m at the auspicious hands of Dr. Pramod Sawant” said minister for Rural development Govind Gaude
The timings during the exhibition days from 20th December, to 31st december will be from 10.00 AM to 9.00 PM During the exhibition days, cultural events will be organized in the evening hours so as to attract more participation from the general public, including foreign and
domestic tourists, which will also give a boost to the SHGs and build confidence in self-sustainability. All basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, security will be provided at the
exhibition site. The exhibition venue will be under CCTV surveillance to prevent untoward incidents and Medical facilities will be provided at the exhibition site to the SHG beneficiaries
so also to reach out to the general public visiting the exhibition. The event management agency has also been asked to take all safety measures and also Fire Tenders will be stationed round the clock at the exhibition venue to attend to any emergency call.
