Chief minister was speaking to the gathering at the 8th traditional ‘Festival of Stars’ and ‘All Goa Carol Singing’ competition organised by Parra citizens forum and Calangute MLA Michael lobo at Parra Parra tinto . Besides chief minister also present were siolim MLA Delilah lobo, calangute MLA Michael lobo, Saligao MLA kedar Naik sarpanch of Parra Chandu Harmalkar,deputy sarpanch Daniel lobo Parish priest of Saint Anne church Fr Peter Gama and all the Panch members. more than 2000 beautiful decorated stars were put up along the pavement in parra showcasing the creativity of the local youth, most of the stars were beautifully made with a traditional look with some especially made of wood also the groups belted out some beautiful christmas carols.
“A uniform civil code is being followed in Goa and there has not been any communal tension between any religions and under the Goa Civil Code, all communities, including Hindus, Muslims and Christians, in the state are governed by the same law when it comes to marriage, divorce, succession, and there is no communal tension between any religion and all are treated equally ” said Sawant
Speaking further Sawant said Christmas commemorating the birth of Jesus is a festival which gives a message of love, sacrifice and service to humanity and that people of different faiths come together showing the communal harmony existing in the state
