The entire Calangute village will be illuminated and full of light in the new year as the village panchayat has put up focus lamps at several prominent locations along the main road at calangute

The panchayat had requested the electricity department to light up all the streetlights that are placed on the road as the people were paying electricity charges to them but the electricity the department did not have sufficient funds to purchase the electricity bulbs or tube lights so the panchayat procured the tube lights utilizing their own panchayat fund to illuminate the entire main road in the New year. The high mast lampposts have been put up mainly in front of the saint alex church and behind saint Anthony chapel as that are was in darkness causing inconvenience to the motorists . the panchayat put up 3 lamposts with four focus lights put up on the lamppost in front of saint alex church while three focus lights have been put up on the lamppost behind the saint anthony’s chapel and two focus lights in front of saint Anthony’s chapel

“So in wake of the new year we thought of illuminating the entire area and providing lighting everywhere especially those areas which were in darkness so we hope that rhe entire stretch will be illuminated in the new year” said sequeira
