an ex student and former GS of St. Xavier’s College, Vijai bhike has wholeheartedly condemned the recent shameful activity of the ABVP of attempting to instil fear and push its divisive agenda in the prestigious St. Xavier’s College of Mapusa.
“Why did those concerned not make any attempt to approach the proper channels and lodge a formal complaint in case of any injustice? From where did these outside elements derive the authority to bulldoze their way into the college and create chaos and pandemonium? Was it the confidence instilled in them by the double engine government” said bhike in a press conference
Speaking further Bhike said that although the ABVP has become well known in the entire nation for inciting violence and totally disrupting the academic environment in Delhi University,
“ we in Goa have never experienced such incidents during my tenure, or any other time in the past. In fact any agitation that occurred before this disgraceful incident had the grassroot support of all the students and parents. Dadagiri was never resorted to in the past by any of the student organisations, except the ABVP, but we the student leaders countered them and quickly showed them the door” bhike said
Speaking further he said that it is obvious that this kind of misguidance, disruptive activities and creation of fear can only come from the BJP, to which the ABVP is affiliated to. Like its big brother the BJP, the ABVP is only interested in grabbing power by securing the chair through any means possible. Not surprisingly, social issues and community relief activities are not on the ABVP agenda. During the Covid pandemic disaster, while all other organisations pitched in wholeheartedly to help the stricken people, the ABVP was not to be seen. Fomenting trouble by inciting violence and division seems to be its one point agenda.
In recent times, Delhi University has been rocked by instances of violence, and in almost every incident, the involvement of the BJP affiliated ABVP has been alleged. In 2017, it was Ramjas University while 2020 saw the prestigious JNU torn apart by violence that left many students injured and the campus indelibly scarred by the traumatic incident.
Goa has hitherto enjoyed a relatively harmonious and liberal academic culture. Goan students look upon the school or college as a second home and regard the teachers and professors akin to our parents revering them as Gurus.
The ABVP incident is an attempt to transform the educational landscape of Goa and usher in a culture of “might is right” that runs contrary to the Goan ethos. It is the bounden duty of the Government of Goa to set the record straight and indicate by its firm and unambiguous actions that such an atmosphere of lawlessness will not be tolerated.
“ i feel An elected personal has completely misused his powers to disrupt the peaceful environment of a well established institute in mapusa.” Said Ex – Student of DMC college Rinaldo Roszario
As an entrepreneur it disheartens me to see the quality of next generation leaders and it stops me or for that matter, any recruiter to recruit this kind of employees who won’t follow the hierarchy and just agitate for any petty issues ..
“This will only increasing the already increasing unemployment rate in the country, and I strongly condem the Leadership Skills of the Newly elected GS of st.xavier college Who is backed by ABVP who was seen shouting slogans in the proceeding classrooms in front of teachers, showing no respect to them, Such a Shame” said Rozario
“with great power comes great responsibility, use your powers to uplift the students and your college and not give limited to Politically affiliated party like ABVP” rozario
