The Mapusa municipal council at its special meeting held on Thursday took a resolution to increase sopo fees to RS 20 for vendors from outside the state and Rs 40 for vendors from the state

On Thursday a special council meeting of the Municipal council was held under the chairmanship of Chairperson Priya Mishal in presence of Chief Officer Principal Amitesh Shirvoikar, Vice Chairperson Viraj Phadke and other council was present on this occasion. Councilor Dr. Nutan Bicholkar and Kayle Braganza

Speaking on the issue councillor Shashank Narvekar said that issue of vending zone needs to be resolved first as currently vendors are sitting and doing vending activity in mixed and classification needs to be done. He also said that ID cards also should be given to vendors. Councilor Sudhir Kandolkar suggested to include wholesale seller who come early morning and sell their stock. The suggestion was included and it was decided to charge Rs 500 for big vehicles and Rs 300 for small vehicles.

Following suggestion from councilors, it was resolve to impose sopo fee of Rs 40 per square meter for vendors doing vending activity in Shed area and Rs 25 for vendors doing vending activity outside on market roads. The Sopo charges will now included garbage tax The final amount for floating tender for sopo fee will of Rs 2.42 crores. Over the issue of pay parking fees, council has unanimously resolved to increase pay parking from Rs 5 for two- wheeler for two hours and Rs 20 for four- wheeler for two hours. Following decision council will be floating a tender of Rs 1 crores for pay- parking contract.
