A large number of and tourists visited calangute beach with the extended weekend holidays, leading to constant traffic jams at the congested Calangute market junction. With Friday being declared as a national holiday for in wake of Good Friday and after that back to back holidays on account of holi Saturday and easter Sunday many tourists from neighbouring states cashed upon the extended weekend stretching from Friday to sunday to drive down to Goa. A large number of outstation four-wheeler vehicles were seen on the roads.

Lack of road dividers and unavailability of parking areas added to the chaos created by bad roads and clueless tourists, who were lost when it came to road directions.
Traffic police personnel patrolling the area in jeeps were seen directing motorists not to park their vehicles along the road, as they were blocking traffic, especially on the busy Baga road. Also with the mercury soaring to unbearable levels across the country and many schools now on holidays the tourists were seen flocking to the Goa beaches to cool- off themselves lending a much-needed fillip to tourism sector in the picturesque state.
