This reaction of the locals comes in the wake of an incident wherein a local youth named Preston fernandes had vandalised a car of another local youth Shamir Verekar. addressing the media Verekar said that Due to ongoing hot mixing work in Calangute he was told by Traffic Cell to park his car somewhere else instead of on the main road infront of his house.. so he called up his friend Godwin Fernandes who is also neighbour and asked him if he can park his car in his property for few hours.. once he said okay the car owner Verekar went and parked his car in his friends property.. after half hour when shamir went to collect his mobile charger from the car, he was totally shocked to see that his car was damaged by the accused Preston Ferenades . Preston had broken the windows and all the glasses on car and had also deflated all 4 tyres.. after accessing the CCTV footage located at a Hotel nearby they could clearly see that one Preston Fernandes a resident of the same Vaddo was the one who had done the damage.. Shamir went to police station and lodged a complaint after which accused was arrested
“People like Preston are a threat to the society as this is not the first instance wherein he had damaged property and vehicles this same Preston in the past had also beaten tourists and locals for no reason and had also damaged their vehicles” said Verekar
