Officials of the Bardez mamlatdar’s office on Monday conducted a surprise inspection, and stopped work of mud-filling of a low-lying area at Gausawaddo in Mapusa. They also attached an excavator involved in the work. Earlier also, the site was inspected and a report was filed.
The inspection was carried out at around 3.46 p.m. The confiscated excavator was then handed over to the Mapusa police station.
In this connection, a letter was written to the Mapusa police to take necessary action. A letter was also sent to the administrator of comunidade of North Zone to take necessary action as the land belongs to the comunidade of Mapusa.
The issue of illegal mud-filling was brought to notice of the concerned officials a number of times even by the local councillor despite of which mud-filling was going on at Gaunswaddo area, along the national highway.
In this connection, earlier cognizance of the activity was taken by the mamlatdar, who had conducted site inspection and also sent a report to administrator of comunidade of North Zone informing about the mud-filling on March 15.
