Inorder to promote better waste management practices among the villagers the calangute village panchayat has used the medium of wall painting to spread the message of swatch Bharat abhiyan
The main aim behind such painting was to bring about a behavioral change at the community level to sensitize people to properly dispose their garbage. under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the panchayat has encouraged an artist from the village Salvador Ferandes to paint the message of swachh bharat on a wall leading which is adjacent to an arterial road stretch leading to the beach .The painting depicts messages of the harmful effects of waste on the animals due to the negligence by the villagers towards disposing their waste .
“this is the easiest way to reach common citizens as every one notices paintings at important locations and painting with such awareness messages will sensitize the common citizen in properly disposing their garbage ” said deputy sarpanch Geeta parab
Through such paintings we have depicted the ill effects of garbage on the animals as due to poor segregation of garbage the animals fall prey to it and consume it and the garbage is hazardous to their health and so we want to create awareness among the citizens on the effects of garbage on the animals ” said artist Salvador Fernandes
