MLA and Deputy Speaker of mapusa Constituency Joshua D’Souza informed that the traffic signal system in Mapusa city will be implemented in the next fifteen days.

He was talking to reporters after holding a meeting with officials of different departments in Mapusa city to review pre-monsoon work in Mapusa municipality. Mapusa Municipality chairperson Priya Mishal, vice chairperson Viraj Phadke, other councillors, Chief Officer Amitesh Shirwaikar, Municipal Chief Engineer, Public Works Department Water and Road Department Officers, Engineers, Water Resources Department Engineers, Fire Brigade Officers, Health Officers, Police and Transport were present in this meeting. Officers of the department, and officials from the Deputy Collector’s office were present. This pre-monsoon review meeting was a bit late this time as all the officials were caught up in the G20 programme. After holding a meeting with all the authorities, the pre-monsoon works will be completed before the onset of monsoon. A meeting of the selected task foce will be held in the Deputy District Magistrate’s office on Monday and the information will be given to you after that. The work of cleaning the drains and sewers in the city has also started and the police traffic department will be informed to remove the abandoned vehicles on the roadside. MLA D’Souzs said that the municipality is working to remove the illegal huts of non-Goans near the Mapusa bus stand, but non-Goans from other cities are erecting huts at that place.
