Chief minister dr Pramod sawant said that efforts will be made to make the colvale jail self-reliant in the future adding that the inmates of the Jail will be able to get fresh milk from the Gaushala at this centre he further said that there are provisions to start goober gas manufacturing unit at the Jail
Chief minister was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Newly Constructed CowShed, Sanitary Pad Making Machine at Modern Central Jail,Colvale also present were IGP, Shri.Omvir Singh Bishnoi,IPS,Superintendent, Modern Central Jail Colvale,Shri.Gouresh Kurtikar & others.
On this occasion, the prisoners who have done excellent work in the jail were honored by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Also, the representatives of charitable organizations who provided financial assistance to start the closed unit in the jail were also honored on this occasion.
IGP Om Veer Singh said that the society should take care that the prisoner who is released after serving his sentence in the jail does not return to the jail.
He said that the centre is working to provide counselling to the prisoners in the and therefore changes are taking place in the prisoner.
“ Efforts are being made to make the jail green and clean and In a few days time the solar project will be put into use by reducing the electricity consumption.
The IGP said that all efforts should be made to ensure that prisoners who have served their sentences are treated with respect in the society after they are released by treating the prisoners well.

Goshala has been started in the jail premises. The cows in the goshala will also produce milk in the prison. Also cow dung gobber gas unit will be started. Therefore, it will be possible to start own milk and gas unit in the prison in future.
