Calangute MLA Michael lobo has assured the people of saipem Orda that falls in the tail end of calangute the water shortage problem will be solved in another 1year 6 months time and they will get uninterrupted water supply once the proposed 30MLD water treatment plant in Calangute commences its operations
lobo was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the commencement of the works of replacement of old pipelines near Goleshwar Temple, Saipem. Besides lobo also present were sarpanch of candolilm Fermino fernandes, and all the panch members
there is a serious water shortage till the tail end of calangute constituency like saipem, candolim reis magos Nerul and the government is committed to providing 24 hour water supply but we are not demanding 24 hour water but we at least want it for three hours and so the distribution of water is not happening which is important ” said lobo
speaking further lobo said that there is illegal water tapping at nearly three or four places on the underground line He said after the breaching of the Tillari canal, the entire Bardez has been facing severe water scarcity he assured that the breaches will be rectified
speaking further lobo said that the proposed 30MLD water treatment plant in Calangute will greatly resolve the water woes of Calangute, Saligao, PIlerne Industrial Estate and surrounding areas and the administrative approval for the project and the work will take nearly one year to six months to be completed .
PWD’s assistant engineer said that the breach in the tillari water canal at dhuler so the porovorim treatment plant was not getting water and the plant could function and
“ so a new pipeline has been laid by wrd and water has reached porvorim so the plant is starting again and since saipem is at the tail end of calangute constituency it has water shortage problem and we will try and resolve it “ said JE of PWD adding that as a long term solution they have proposed to supply water from a tank with a bigger capacity and NOC for that has aldready been given and added that the proposed 30MLD water treatment plant in Calangute will greatly resolve the water woes of Calangute, Saligao, PIlerne Industrial Estate” said AE
