A day after the Sarpanch of Siolim-Marna Village Panchayat Sharmila Vernekar resigned after five panch members moved a no-confidence motion against Marna-Siolim Sarpanch Sharmila Vernekar & her supporters expressed their unhappiness over no confidence motion moved by some panchayat members. Sarpanch challenged ward members to divulge the illegalities she had done with proper proof.
Citing the reasons for moving no-confidence motion against the sarpanch, the five panchas in a letter addressed to the Block Development Officer (BDO) stated that the sarpanch failed to act against illegal construction and various illegalities committed in the jurisdiction of the panchayat.They also pointed out that the sarpanch did not take members of panchayat into confidence while taking decisions.
The panchas, who signed the no confidence motion, are Abhay Shirodkar, Manorama Govekar, Shobhavati Chodankar, Amit Morajkar and Sandesh Hadfadkar. Soon after the no confidence motion was moved, Sarpanch Sharmila Vernekar resigned from the post.
“I had taken up a lot of developmental works in siolim constituency such as the repairs of the fish market and also the work near kirti vidhayalay which was pending for a long time also the works of improving the platform near the Ganapati temple were taken up and I had also undertaken several other repair works of the crematorium and now they have brought a no confidence motion against me its my challenge to them to show me the illegalities I have done ” said a perturbed Sharmila Vernekar
Meanwhile following the resignation of the sarpanch deputy sarpanch William Ferandes also tendered his resignation from the post of deputy sarpanch
