The residents of calangute village have been out into inconvenience due to , frequent power cuts as a result most of their electrical appliances are getting damaged.
While the erratic power supply and the intense heat have made it difficult for business establishments and residents alike, electricity department officials are only passing the buck on each other
“There has been continuous power supply failure for at least five times since the last few days, causing inconvenience to the locals We are also at receiving end due to growing heat, which is unbearable. How can we bear this unbearable heat without electricity ? How can we also remain inside our houses without fans for hours together,” questioned a local Especiosa Dsouza
Another local said that the constant power outages have resulted in damage to their appliances
When contacted,Calangute electricity department Junior engineer Penha Dsouza failed to comment on the issue
When contacted Assistant Engineer Bento Barreto he gave evasive reply and blamed the panchayat for not allowing them to dig the roads for connecting the cables to the calangute substation.
When contacted sarpanch Joseph sequeira he said that he had given NOC to dig cables leading to the calangute sub station.
