an old crematorium in Nerul village which was in dilapidated and was almost in dead condition has now got a new lease of life as the works of renovation and repair of the crematorium was carried out on Wednesday
the foundation stone for the renovation work of the Nerul Crematorium was laid by Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, along with the active participation and support of enthusiastic Nerul locals. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 15 lakhs, aims to enhance the facilities and overall infrastructure of the crematorium, providing a dignified and comfortable environment for the bereaved families.
The crematorium will not get a modern and well-equipped facility. MLA Kedar Naik, known for his commitment to community development, expressed his gratitude to the locals for their unwavering support and dedication to this project.
Speaking at the event, MLA Kedar Naik said, “The crematorium plays a vital role in providing solace to grieving families during their most difficult times. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that this place not only serves its purpose but also offers the necessary comfort and peace to the mourning families. With the collaboration of the Nerul community, I am confident that we will successfully renovate this crematorium and make it a model for others to follow.”
The renovation project encompasses several key aspects, including the construction of additional pyre platforms, refurbishment of existing structures, installation of modern cremation equipment, and the development of well-maintained gardens and seating areas. Special attention will also be given to improving sanitation facilities and providing better accessibility for the elderly and differently-abled individuals.
